Dr. Datta has over 40 years experience in process development and engineering on projects in the refining, petrochemical, polymer and specialty chemicals industries. Dr. Datta held senior positions as General Manager, Executive Director (Technology) and Vice President in leading national and international organizations.
During his process design work, Dr. Datta has developed specialized expertise in the areas of reaction engineering covering various types of catalysts used in gas-solid, gas liquid and homogeneous reactor systems. These included refinery processes like Fluid Catalytic Cracking, Catalystic Reforming, Hydrodesulphurization, Mercatans Oxidation, Isomerization, etc.
In the area of petrochemicals, Dr. Datta developed expertise in several catalytic processes. He was actively involved in the development of indigenous technology for Ethylene Oxide (EO) with silver catalyst on Calcium Carbide with NCL, Pune and EIL. He also led the EIL team simulation and scale up a series of commercial trans-esterification and polycondensation reactor systems for production of polyethylene terephthalate using homogeneous catalysts. |
